| January 27 is the anniversary of Thomas
A. Healy.
Thomas Aquinas Healy was born in Athlone, Ireland, in 1873. He later lived
in Jamaica Olain, MA. He entered our novitiate at Villanova, PA, in 1902,
and was ordained by Bishop O’Reilly of Baker City, OR, in 1906.
Father Healy served, for a time, as Vice President of the College. He
later taught at Saint Augustine’s in Havana, Cuba; was a member
of the mission band, and served in Los Angeles, CA. He was also associated
with the opening of Saint Vincent’s Parish in San Diego. Saint Vincent’s
is now called Saint Patrick’s.
In 1926, Father Healy was appointed Rector of Saint Thomas’ in Rosemont,
PA, where he died on January 27, 1927 at the age of 54. He is buried in
the Community Cemetery at Villanova.
