St. Augustine Preparatory School

611 Cedar Avenue, Richland, NJ 08350

St. Augustine Prep, a four-year college preparatory school, is owned and sponsored by the Augustinians of the Province of St. Thomas of Villanova.

The Prep was founded by the Augustinian Italian Vice Province of Our Mother of Good Counsel, formed in 1925 to serve the Italian immigrant population in South Philadelphia.

In 1958, the tract of land for the 127-acre campus in Richland, New Jersey was located by Brother Frank P. Cuccinotta, O.S.A., (1922-2008), and purchased by the Vice Province to provide a minor seminary and prep school for Italian immigrants in the Vineland area. The first graduating class of 27 students was a mix of seminarians and day students. In 2009, the Prep celebrated its 50th anniversary with 700 attending students.

In 1994, the Vice Province of Our Mother of Good Council was suppressed and merged into the Province of St. Thomas of Villanova.

The school's focus is on preparing young men in grades 9-12 for higher education. As a Catholic school in the Augustinian tradition, St Augustine Prep promotes the values of Veritas, Unitas and Caritas - Truth, Unity and Love - which are the hallmark of the Augustinian order. In addition, St. Augustine Prep embraces and promotes John Henry Newman's ideal of "a Christian Gentlemen" who holds firm to his faith.
