Augustinian Friends Group

The Lay Augustinians from Philadelphia also made a retreat at the Augustinian house in  Ocean City, New Jersey on the weekend of Feb 1-3.  Thirteen men and women began their retreat on Friday evening with Evening Prayer and then watched a movie about the life of St. Rita.

On Saturday morning after breakfast we had Morning Prayer followed by a talk on Friendship according to St. Augustine.   We spent the rest of the morning sharing our own experiences of friendship.   After lunch, there was a Faith Sharing experience based on the Sunday Gospel.  Later on that afternoon the participates  had the opportunity to take a  walk on the beach or some  other activity.  We joined together  again for a talk on the Laity in the Order of St. Augustine, followed by a discussion. Before dinner we celebrated Mass. Saturday evening we had Evening Prayer and a video on the History of the Augustinian Order.  Sunday morning after breakfast we had Morning Prayer, a sharing of our experience of the weekend and clean up.

All the meals were prepared by the participates. The food was plentiful and delicious. The retreat helped us to appreciate being Augustinian and to become closer to God and to each other in the spirit of St. Augustine.
